Mind-Blowing Fact

Keep em' healthy.

The Armsby calorimeter, which was built by Dr. Henry Armsby at Penn State in the early 20th century, was the first of its kind. It was used to determine the nutritional value of animal feed by measuring factors such as respiration, feed and water intake, and excrement. Prior to this invention, farmers had to make educated guesses about how much to feed their livestock due to a lack of knowledge about the energy content of their food.
